Basketball Recap: Coronado Cougars vs. Democracy Prep Agassi Campus Blue Knights
On Monday, the Coronado Cougars faced the Democracy Prep Agassi Campus Blue Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coronado was beaten by the Blue Knights 64-33. Coronado has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Coronado saw an underclassman step up: Ella Creer scored seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Brooks, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Coronado has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coronado will take on the Aggies at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Arbor View is ranked 30th, while the Cougars are ranked 13th). As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Faith Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
