Baseball Game Preview: Piper Pirates vs. Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds

The Piper Pirates will challenge the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piper's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Tuesday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Piper's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Hays 2-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Not much got past Dylan Eikenbary, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Hays off the board.

On the hitting side, Roch Emanuel was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Jovahni Perez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Heights faced Blue Valley Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Thunderbirds came up short against the Timberwolves, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Thunderbirds have suffered since April 9, 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Shawnee Heights and nudges their season record down to 12-3. As for Piper, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
