Softball Recap: Pickens' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Pickens hadn't done well against Seneca recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Blue Flame walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Bobcats. Nine seems to be a good number for the Blue Flame as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Sophie Duzan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Kaylee Bolding was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Jessi Hendricks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pickens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Pickens, bringing their record up to 14-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Seneca, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8.

Coming up, Pickens will take on Travelers Rest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Seneca does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
