Softball Recap: Harrison County Thorobreds vs. Pendleton County Wildcats
Harrison County put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They never let the Pendleton County Wildcats onto the board and left with a 7-0 win. Harrison County is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 11 straight.
Shyanne Ross made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Ross has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Ross was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Savannah White was excellent, going 3-for-3 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Hamm, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Harrison County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4. As for Pendleton County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Harrison County will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Dixie Heights at 10:00 a.m. Harrison County's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Dixie Heights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pendleton County, they will head out on the road to challenge Anderson County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Anderson County knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Pendleton County likes a good challenge.
