Basketball Game Preview: Holmes Huskies vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

The Holmes Huskies will challenge the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Holmes has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 22.

Holmes is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Warren on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Holmes was outmatched by Warren and fell 102-63. Even though they lost, the Huskies' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.3 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Loss or not, Holmes got some senior leadership from Noah Smith and Joseph Ramon. Smith posted 20 points, while Ramon scored 15 points. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ricky Garcia, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sotomayor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Marshall 60-38 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the WILDCATS as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sotomayor's victory bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Holmes, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-25.
