Softball Recap: Oxford Wins Going Away Against Chichester

Oxford won the last time they faced Chichester and things went their way on Monday too. The Hornets blew past the Eagles 13-3.

Ericka Ortega spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isabella Polita and Grace Allen did most of the damage at the plate: Polita went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Allen went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Polita a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Keenan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chichester, their record is now 9-9.

Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chichester, they will face off against Academy Park at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
