Baseball Recap: Hattiesburg's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Hattiesburg got themselves on the board against Poplarville on Tuesday, but Poplarville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Hornets. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Amari Hill's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Weatherspoon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Hattiesburg is undefeated when Weatherspoon posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Polk, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Hattiesburg's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5. As for Poplarville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hattiesburg beat Poplarville by a score of 16-8 on Thursday.
