Green Hope is 0-10 against Panther Creek since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Green Hope Falcons will welcome the Panther Creek Catamounts at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Green Hope is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They fell 17-13 to Franklinton.
Sophia Cerneka made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Josselyn DeSantis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Panther Creek). They put the hurt on East Chapel Hill with a sharp 21-1 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Catamounts with their most commanding win of the season.
Jessica Burk made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Panther Creek let Meghan Dracup and Cassidy Robinson run wild. Dracup went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Robinson went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Dracup a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Burt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Panther Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. Green Hope's loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Green Hope might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Panther Creek in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Green Hope avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
