Baseball Recap: Lake Weir Triumphs

Lake Weir proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Baker County Wildcats 1-0.

Lyric Hartley tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lake Weir's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Courtney, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lake Weir pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Baker County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
