Baseball Game Preview: Riviera Prep Bulldogs vs. Killian Cougars

The Riviera Prep Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Killian Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Riviera Prep came up short against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) and fell 7-3. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Stallions: they've now lost four in a row.

Riviera Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Wasserman, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Killian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Coral Gables.

Killian also got a good showing from Brandon Pfeiffer, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

Riviera Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Killian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Killian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riviera Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. It's a different story for Killian, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Riviera Prep's hitters?

Riviera Prep suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Killian when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
