Softball Game Preview: Hector Wildcats vs. Danville Little Johns

The Hector Wildcats will square off against the Danville Little Johns at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Hector's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Danville has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

If Hector beats Danville with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wildcats beat Acorn on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Sarena Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Addison Campbell was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Abigail Dodson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Hector was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Danville and Westside finished up their contest with a 5-5 draw on Friday.

Hector's win bumped their record up to 12-2. Danville's tie makes their record 0-10-1 this season.

Hector took their victory against Danville in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Little Johns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
