Recap: Brookfield Warriors vs. Edgewood Warriors
It was a good run, but the Brookfield Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 68-50 to Edgewood. Brookfield has not had much luck with Edgewood recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Brookfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matteo Fortuna, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Fortuna scored a full 44% of Brookfield's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Judah Dejoy, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Brookfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Edgewood, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookfield will square off against LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. LaBrae knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Brookfield likes a good challenge. Edgewood will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Perry at 6:15 p.m. on January 6th.
