The league's top two teams in the standings locked horns this week, as Greensburg Salem took home a 13-10 victory over Belle Vernon on May 1, 2012.
Belle Vernon is now in first place at 11-3 in WPIAL AAA 2 and 14-3 overall.
Greensburg Salem (12-4, 9-3) is red-hot, having won four straight games, the longest such streak in the league. Four of those wins came in the past week, includinga 5-4 victory over Ligonier Valley.
Mt. Pleasant's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 19 hits and two walks to lead the league in both categories. The Vikings's pitchers have been charged with only 109 hits and have struck out 88 batters.
Shane Hertzog is tops on the staff with 35 Ks.
