Section 5 Genesee Region recap October 8, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Oakfield-Alabama, who took down 258th ranked Elba/Byron-Bergen, 20-15.

Pembroke moved up to 440 from 478 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 5 Genesee Region. The Dragons climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Notre Dame 32-13.

The Hornets' Allen Chatt and Nick Tambe have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-8 quarterback Chatt has thrown for 564 yards this season, while Tambe has 7 catches for 250 yards. Attica's Matt Perry leads the league in rushing yards with 759.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Oakfield-Alabama takes on Alexander. Brian Palone's team is in fourth place, while the Trojans are in third place.

The league will see a high scoring game when the Lancers and the Blue Devils face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Elba/Byron-Bergen comes in having scored 123 this season, while Attica has scored 147. Michael Cintorino's team scored 15 points last week as it fell to the Hornets.

Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 5 Genesee Region this week, the Fighting Irish beat Pembroke 32-13. The win marks fifth in a row for the Notre Dame.
