After both having extra time off, the New Milford Green Wave and the New Fairfield Rebels will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Milford has three straight victories, New Fairfield has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

New Milford is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Bethel: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that New Milford blew Bethel out of the water with a 34-3 final score. The matchup marked the Green Wave's most dominant win of the season.

Alex Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to New Milford's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Chris Reiss and Danny Reid, who racked up four sacks between them. With that strong performance, Reiss is now averaging an impressive 5.1 total tackles per game.

Meanwhile, a victory for New Fairfield just wasn't in the cards last Friday as the squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They came up short against Bunnell, falling 41-19. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 25th).

Josh Krueger put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown. James Fidaleo also helped with two touchdowns in total.

New Fairfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Debartolomeo.

New Milford's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4. As for New Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Tuesday's game might be decided in the trenches. New Milford has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 151.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for New Fairfield, though, as they've been averaging only 65.3. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
