Volleyball Game Preview: Ridgewood Rebels vs. Aurora East Tomcats

The Ridgewood Rebels will challenge the Aurora East Tomcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgewood will be strutting in after a victory while Aurora East will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Ridgewood turned things around against Regina Dominican on Thursday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 2-0.

Ridgewood not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Regina Dominican between 17 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18.

Ridgewood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Swiderek out in front who had ten digs and two aces. Swiderek has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Swiderek wasn't the only good servers: Ridgewood was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Aurora East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They fell 2-0 to Rosary.

Aurora East's defeat dropped their record down to 2-28. As for Ridgewood, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.

Ridgewood beat Aurora East 2-0 in their previous matchup back in September. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Tomcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
