Softball Recap: Natomas Nighthawks vs. Rio Linda Knights

Natomas extended their losing streak to 14 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-14-1. They lost 16-0 to the Rio Linda Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in March.

As for Rio Linda, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Rio Linda's part, Kiera Waggoner made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Waggoner was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Roxanne Alvarez was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kierra Thomas, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
