Softball Recap: Wynford Royals vs. Mt. Gilead Indians
Wynford took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (barely). They skirted past the Mt. Gilead Indians 8-7. That's more bragging rights for Wynford, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
For Mt. Gilead's part, Kierra Main was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Savannah Wilt was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Mt. Gilead dropped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Wynford will face off against Elgin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wynford is facing Elgin at the right time seeing as Elgin is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mt. Gilead, they will be playing at home against Crestline at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
