Kenwood couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Parkdale Panthers by a score of 16-14 on Friday. The Bluebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Despite the loss, Kenwood still got an impressive performance from Darryl Giles Jr, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown. Giles Jr also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles (1.0 for loss).
