League recap: Walsh throws longest pass in league this season for St. Joseph-Ogden

Dalton Walsh and Louis Acklin provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Monmouth-Roseville. The longest such play in Sangamon Valley this season, the connection resulted in 63 yards.

Momence's Deandre Wright recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Paxton-Buckley-Loda last week. Wright ran for 95 yards on the play and finished with 359 on the day as his team defeated the Panthers.

St. Joseph-Ogden's dynamic duo of Walsh and Acklin proved tough for the Titans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Walsh threw for 145 yards and one touchdown and Acklin had 115 yards receiving. Bryce Stewart helped St. Joseph-Ogden's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.

St. Thomas More's Strom Joop and Kevin Carroll have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Joop has thrown for 1094 yards this season, while Carroll, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 26 catches for 687 yards. Momence's Wright leads the league in rushing yards with 2004.

Two of the top units in Sangamon Valley will face off this week when Matt Fox's team takes on Central. The Redskins' offense has scored 334 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Comets have allowed only 93 on the year.

Watseka's Austin Blair needs only 19 yards against Iroquois West next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 143 carries Blair has accumulated 981 yard this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Central takes on Momence. At the moment, Brian Spooner's team is in second, while the Redskins are in third.

The Sabers moved up to 267 from 317 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. St. Thomas More was able to make the jump by besting the Raiders 44-12.
