Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Dragons vs. Castro Valley Trojans
The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took down Castro Valley 82-66. Given Bishop O'Dowd's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Trojans are ranked 421st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop O'Dowd had a senior duo take command as Samuel Chavarin dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds and Leo Chapman scored 24 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chavarin has scored all season. Tobias Aisien was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Bishop O'Dowd pushed their record up to 16-6 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Castro Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
Bishop O'Dowd will head out on the road to face off against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Castro Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pilots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph Notre Dame and the Trojans are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
