Ohio high school quarterback Vinny Ballone of Lowellville tied a state record Friday night by throwing nine touchdown passes in a 62-20 win over Jackson-Milton.

Ballone, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound senior, completed 29 of 38 passes for 442 yards in addition to his record-tying TD total. According to the MaxPreps National High School Football Record Book compiled by Kevin Askeland, he is the ninth quarterback in state history to throw nine in a game.

Garrett Griffin of National Trail (New Paris) and Colby Speice of Wayne Trace (Haviland) were the last to do it in 2013.

Ballone has been on a tear all season for unbeaten Lowellvile, bringing his totals to 1,610 yards and 30 touchdown passes after Friday's game. The Rockets are averaging 51.6 points per game.

NAIA program Lawrence Technological University of Michigan became the first school to extend an offer to Ballone earlier this week.
