Basketball Recap: McKinley Comes Up Short

McKinley lost against Green back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The McKinley Bulldogs were beaten by the Green Bulldogs 79-52. While losing is never fun, McKinley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Green is ranked 21st).

Despite the loss, McKinley still got an impressive performance from Mya Taylor, who posted 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Taylor's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of K'Lynn Carter, who earned ten points.

McKinley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Green, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKinley will take on Jackson at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Green, they will square off against GlenOak at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Green is facing GlenOak at the right time seeing as GlenOak is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
