Softball Game Preview: Gig Harbor Tides vs. Lincoln Abes

The Gig Harbor Tides will challenge the Lincoln Abes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gig Harbor will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Gig Harbor is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Lakes 30-5 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Tides, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gig Harbor got a massive performance out of Abby Miller, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Miller has posted since back in May of 2024. Isabelle Harris was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Gig Harbor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .733. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lincoln came up short against North Thurston on Tuesday, falling 19-2. The Abes have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Gig Harbor pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything went Gig Harbor's way against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in March, as Gig Harbor made off with a 22-8 victory. Will the Tides repeat their success, or do the Abes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
