Baseball Game Preview: Haverling Rams vs. Le Roy Oatkan Knights

Haverling is a perfect 5-0 against Le Roy since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Oatkan Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Haverling came out on top against Dansville on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Rams took their contest against the Mustangs 6-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Rams' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Dylan Wenban and Gage Thomas made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wenban pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Thomas pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Wenban is becoming a predictor of Haverling's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 6-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). At bat, Wenban went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Thomas got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Wenban has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lukas Wightman, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Asher Phenes was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Le Roy waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 19-3 victory. The Oatkan Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Haverling's record now sits at 8-9. As for Le Roy, their record is now 16-3.

Haverling came out on top in a nail-biter against Le Roy when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Oatkan Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
