Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Starts Season with Win Against Calvary Christian Academy

Pine Crest had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles on Wednesday as the Pine Crest Panthers made off with a 12-2 victory. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 12-2 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Pine Crest got a great performance from Christian Zahn as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most innings Zahn has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Stephen Gladding was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing one base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Troy Ceritelli, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pine Crest Panthers take on the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on February 12th. Calvary Christian Academy has already played their next match (against Cardinal Newman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
