Softball Recap: Lakewood Find Success

After losing to Johnstown-Monroe the last time they met, Lakewood decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lancers came out on top against the Johnnies by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.

Ashlyn Carder made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lakewood let Cora Redman and Riley Williams run wild. Redman went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Williams went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high.

Lakewood's record now sits at 16-4. As for Johnstown-Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lakewood is set to challenge their familiar foe Northridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Johnstown-Monroe will take on rival Newark Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Johnnies' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Green Wave have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
