OPELIKA, Ala. -
Beauregard (Opelika, Ala.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Walker Meadows thew a touchdown to
Tykwane Meniefield with with 9:00 left in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Headland (Ala.) 28-14.
The two teams were tied at 14 heading into halftime. The Hornets took the lead indefinitely on a Meadows touchdown pass to Meniefield in the third quarter.
Beauregard entered the contest giving up 20.8 points per game this year.
The defeat comes as a step back for Headland, who notched a 35-18 victory over Houston County in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for BHS, which was coming off a 28-9 defeat at the hands of Smiths Station in its previous game.
Beauregard (4-2) will play a 4A Region 2 game against St. James next week, while Headland (2-4) will take on Charles Henderson also in a 4A Region 2 game.
