Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs vs. Keys Gate Knights

The Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs will challenge the Keys Gate Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keys Gate took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Archbishop Carroll, who comes in off a win.

Archbishop Carroll will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Mater Lakes Academy, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bears a 4-0 shutout on Thursday.

STEVEN NUNEZ looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Archbishop Carroll: the team is 3-1-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, ANGELLO CHAVIANO was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was NICOLAS CARRILLO, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Keys Gate was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 9-2 to ABF Academy Homestead. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Keys Gate's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Archbishop Carroll, their record now sits at 10-11-1.

Archbishop Carroll was able to grind out a solid win over Keys Gate when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
