Volleyball Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Lafayette Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the McCutcheon Mavericks, falling 3-0. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Mavericks when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-11.

Lauren Johnson paced Lafayette Central Catholic's offense, picking up six kills. Johnson were helped by Paige Perez and Charli Cain, who contributed seven assists each. Perez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mackenzie Taylor went supernova For McCutcheon., getting 12 digs and five aces. That's the most aces Taylor has posted over her last 13 matchups.

Lafayette Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for McCutcheon, the win snapped their losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 12-17 record.

Lafayette Central Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Rossville on the 9th. As for McCutcheon, after both having extra time off, they and Lafayette Jefferson will shake off the rust and duke it out at 11:00 a.m. on the 18th.
