Basketball Recap: East Wake Warriors vs. Fike Demons
East Wake lost against Fike back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Wake Warriors lost 58-32 to the Fike Demons. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Demons are ranked 52nd).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lyelah Pitters, who posted eight points in addition to 12 boards and three blocks. Those 12 rebounds gave Pitters a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashanti Mohammad, who had nine points.
Jamaria Freeman was her usual excellent self, going 11 for 25 en route to 25 points and eight boards for Fike. Freeman is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jewel Brewington, who scored 14 points and five rebounds.
East Wake's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Fike, the win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
East Wake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-39 victory against South Johnston on the 17th. As for Fike, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 89-23 win against Southern Wayne on the 17th.
