Baseball Recap: Barberton Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Firestone typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Barberton proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 9-5. The Magics have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Jojo Porter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javon Clayton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Barberton: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Adam Morris, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Barberton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Firestone, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-11.
