Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Perkins Pirates
The Sandusky Blue Streaks will head out on the road to face off against the Perkins Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sandusky is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Sandusky scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took down Lorain 84-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Sandusky's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mae Rameau, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. Rameau also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ra'kiya Collier, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Perkins came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 44-36 victory over Bay. Given Perkins' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Bay is ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Sandusky back to even at 8-8. As for Perkins, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Sandusky didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Perkins in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-51 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sandusky since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
