Softball Recap: Raritan's Undefeated Season over After 12 Games

Raritan fell victim to Middletown South and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Rockets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Katelyn Ruta spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Raritan fell to 11-1. As for Middletown South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Raritan will welcome Wall Township at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Middletown South, they will head out on the road to face off against Howell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
