Softball Recap: David Thibodaux Takes a Loss

David Thibodaux came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Opelousas Catholic Vikings, falling 14-2. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

David Thibodaux saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Malveaux, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Malveaux has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another was Aubrey Savini, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

David Thibodaux's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Opelousas Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.

Coming up, David Thibodaux will face off against John Curtis Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Opelousas Catholic, they will take on St. Edmund at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Vikings' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Fighting Blue Jays have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
