Nebraska City piles up the points against Mound City

The Nebraska City Pioneers can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They blew past Mound City, posting a 77-45 win on the road. Nebraska City's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Nebraska City found their leader in underclassman Kaiden Klassen, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Klassen continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Hodges, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Nebraska City's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10. As for Mound City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Nebraska City will head out on the road to face off against Conestoga at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conestoga has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 4-1 during that stretch of close contests. Mound City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeast Nodaway at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Northeast Nodaway is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
