Recap: Rancho Rams vs. Canyon Springs Pioneers

The Rancho Rams had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They took down Canyon Springs 65-47. For Rancho, this counts as revenge for the 54-49 defeat Canyon Springs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

It was another big night for R'Zha Whittle, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Childress, who scored 16 points along with four steals.

Rancho is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Canyon Springs, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Rancho won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sierra Vista at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Sierra Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Rancho likes a good challenge. As for Canyon Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Cimarron-Memorial at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Cimarron-Memorial is ranked 22nd, while Canyon Springs is ranked 32nd).
