Recap: Leadership Academy Falcons vs. Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix
The Leadership Academy Falcons's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They slipped by Winston-Salem Prep 55-54. That's another feather in the cap for Leadership Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Will Martin, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Caden Ryker was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Winston-Salem Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hahsasah Simmons, who scored 14 points along with three blocks and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Covington, who scored ten points along with six steals.
The win got Leadership Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Winston-Salem Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leadership Academy will take on Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Millennium is on a five-game streak of home losses, Leadership Academy a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Winston-Salem Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Forsyth at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. North Forsyth aren't just struggling at home either: they haven't won a game anywhere since December 21, 2023.
