Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Beats Cape Fear Christian Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Grace Christian won the last time they faced Cape Fear Christian Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Grace Christian Crusaders came out on top against the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 71-59. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Grace Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nate Jones led the charge by going 9 of 17 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Jones' morning made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Moose, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Grace Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Fear Christian Academy only pulled down five offensive boards.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lathan Wilborn, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Wilborn has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Kayden Dunkins was another key player, going 8 of 17 on his way to 16 points.

Grace Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-3 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Grace Christian and Chatham HomeSchool will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. One thing working in Grace Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. Cape Fear Christian Academy and West Johnston will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cape Fear Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season.
