Preview: Meade Buffaloes vs. Minneola Wildcats
Meade is 9-1 against Minneola since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Meade Buffaloes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Minneola Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Meade put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ashland 62-33 on the road. Given Meade's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Ashland is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Minneola unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 75-66 to Spearville.
Minneola's defeat came about despite a quality game from Eli Lang, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Lang hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Jesse Smith was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Meade is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Minneola, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Everything came up roses for Meade against Minneola in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 80-39 win. Will Meade repeat their success, or does Minneola have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
