Basketball Recap: Hilton Head Prep Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

There's no place like home for Hilton Head Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They took down the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots 57-43 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dolphins also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.

Hilton Head Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooke Heins out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Heins has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Courtney Campbell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists.

Hilton Head Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patrick Henry Academy only racked up six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Patrick Henry Academy lost, don't look at Lillian Lucas. Despite the final result, she went 10 for 21 en route to 25 points and eight boards. That was a full 58.1% of Patrick Henry Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Futch, who earned five points and 14 rebounds.

Hilton Head Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they moved to 9-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Andrew's at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they will face off against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
