Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline lost against Oakwood Academy back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Skyline Vikings fell to the Oakwood Academy Mustangs 53-48. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oakwood Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bruklyn Dublin, who posted 16 points and six steals. Dublin's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Joanna Caldwell was another key player, as she made all 6 shots she took to post 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Oakwood Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Skyline and North Sand Mountain will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Sand Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Skyline likes a good challenge. As for Oakwood Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on John Carroll Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
