Baseball Recap: Shades Valley Has No Trouble Against Huffman

Shades Valley's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the Huffman Vikings 11-5. That's more bragging rights for the Mounties, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Joshua Moore was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 11 over 5.1 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Braylon Ford was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Landon Kyle, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Shades Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huffman only posted an OBP of .312.

Shades Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-22. As for Huffman, their record now sits at 7-10.

Looking ahead, Shades Valley will venture away from home to square off against Minor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mounties are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Huffman, they will square off against Fultondale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
