Basketball Game Preview: Walsh Eagles vs. Stanton County Trojans

Walsh hasn't had much luck against Stanton County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Walsh Eagles will welcome the Stanton County Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Walsh is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] by a score of 40-37.

Kayla Penick put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 13 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Even though they lost, Walsh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Stanton County suffered their biggest loss since January 5, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by South Gray and fell 68-35. The Trojans have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Walsh now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Stanton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Walsh was taken down by Stanton County 75-16 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Walsh was down 51-6.
