Basketball Recap: Clark Sets Scoring Season-High Against SA Roosevelt

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clark). Everything went their way against the SA Roosevelt Rough Riders on Wednesday as the Clark Cougars made off with a 68-48 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 418th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kristian Burgan was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Jaden Flemons, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 14 points and six assists.

Clark was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Defeat or not, SA Roosevelt got some senior leadership from Isaac Castillo and Ethan Liserio. Castillo went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points, while Liserio went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points. That's the most points Castillo has posted since back in November of 2024. Demarcus Robinson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Clark's victory bumped their record up to 20-10. As for SA Roosevelt, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Clark has already played their next match, a 61-44 loss against Reagan on the 8th. As for SA Roosevelt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-55 defeat against Brandeis on the 8th.
