Bagdad came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Anthem Prep Eagles with a sharp 12-5 win. That's two games straight that the Sultans have won by exactly seven runs.

Destry Owings and Rowdy Hooper made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Owings tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Hooper tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Owings has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Owings scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4, while Hooper scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Martinez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bubba Myers, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Bagdad's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Anthem Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Bagdad is taking a road trip to face off against Mogollon at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bagdad 2.2, Mogollon 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Anthem Prep, they will take on North Valley Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
