East St. Louis is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of IMG Academy. The Flyers came up short against the Ascenders, falling 38-14. The Flyers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

IMG Academy was led to victory by Le'Khy Thompkins and Jayden Wade. Thompkins rushed for 214 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, while Wade rushed for 72 yards. Thompkins' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 112 rushing yards.

East St. Louis' loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for IMG Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. East St. Louis will be playing at home against Plainfield East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bengals will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for IMG Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hun at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Raiders' defense has only allowed 14.9 points per game this season, so the Ascenders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
