Basketball Recap: EMMA SCHLACHTER's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Potter County Co-Op [Gettysburg/Hoven] over Wolsey-Wessington

After flying high against Aberdeen Christian last Thursday, Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] came back down to earth. The Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] Battlers took a 63-44 bruising from the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds on Saturday. The Battlers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven]'s defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was EMMA SCHLACHTER, who posted eight points along with eight boards and seven steals. SCHLACHTER has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. TAYLYN RAUSCH was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Wolsey-Wessington, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] will welcome Mobridge-Pollock at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mobridge-Pollock will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wolsey-Wessington, they will square off against Jones County on Monday. Jones County's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Wolsey-Wessington's offense will have their work cut out for them.
