It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lakewood had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers, posting a 73-35 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Lakewood had a senior duo take command as Sumayah McIntosh went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points along with seven steals and six assists and Alahni Lovett went 7 for 10 on her way to 19 points and five steals. McIntosh has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Mikayla Paschal was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
Lakewood was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley Prep only racked up four assists.
Berkeley Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Molly Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Madeline Dean, who posted seven points and 13 rebounds.
Lakewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
