Volleyball Recap: Wausau West Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Wausau West lost against Newman Catholic back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Warriors fell 2-0 to the Fighting Cardinals. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Warriors haven't been shut out since back in August.

Wausau West was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-22.

Carlee Bloom paced Wausau West's offense, picking up six kills. Bloom got some help from Ava Ngo and her nine assists. Ngo also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Addy Vaughn, each putting up three.

Newman Catholic can attribute much of their success to Lexi Rice, who had six digs and two aces.

Wausau West has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. As for Newman Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-16.

Wausau West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Northland Pines on the 18th. As for Newman Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Stockbridge on the 18th.
